Decades of research, practical application and experience has lead to NFI developing curriculum that has become the standard by which all others will be measured.  While many are satisfied with teaching outdated materials and techniques, NFI courses and instructors have become known for incorporation of the most up to date, cutting edge and practical information, along with presentation techniques and hands-on exercises that maximize retention of the information, providing a permanent bedrock foundation in a technologically changing world.

Firearms

Tactical Training

"Tactical" - Approach taken to achieve a specific objectives or to solve a specific problem.

Tactical Courses are broken down into distinct levels to maximize the retention of information and building of foundational lifelong skills. 

Tactical Handgun - Level I

  • This is a fundamental course in the art of handgun use for self defense.  Topics include: Nomenclature; Safety; The Law; Physical and Psychological Effects of Lethal Encounter,  Levels of Awareness; Fundamentals of Marksmanship; Practical Shooting; Range Safety; Live Fire; Maintenance.  This is typically an 8 hour+ course and fills quickly.
  • $75 per person ($25 additional if NFI provides the necessary firearms and ammunition)

Tactical Handgun - Level II

  • The first follow-up course to Level I and gets to the practical field application.  Topics and exercises include: Range Safety Briefing; Drawing from the Holster; Stress and the First Shot; The Controlled Pair; The Double Tap; Strong Hand Only; Weak Hand Only; Shooting from Cover; Shooting from Kneeling; Shooting from Prone; Shooting While Moving - Back, Forward, Laterally.  

Tactical Handgun - Level III

  • Review and Continuation of Level II skills plus the added exercises of shooting at moving targets and shooting from odd shooting positions.

Tactical Handgun - Level IV

  • Review and continuation of Level III skill sets and the added exercises of poor visibility; low light; principle protection; Active shooter intervention, first aid and follow-up.

Tactical Handgun - Level V

  • This is the final course in the series which includes review and warm-up of practical skill sets from classes I through IV and then the final written test and practical exercises that if passed will earn the certification of Tactical Handgun Master.

Tactical Handgun Retention

Tactical Shotgun - Level I

  • This is a fundamental course in the art of shotgun use for self defense.  Topics include: Nomenclature; Safety; The Law; Physical and Psychological Effects of Lethal Encounter,  Levels of Awareness; Fundamentals of Marksmanship; Practical Shooting; Range Safety; Live Fire; Maintenance.  This is typically an 8 hour+ course and fills quickly.
  • $75 per person ($25 additional if NFI provides the necessary firearms and ammunition)

Tactical Shotgun - Level II

  • The first follow-up course to Level I and gets to the practical field application.  Topics and exercises include: Range Safety Briefing;  Stress and the First Shot; Strong Hand Only; Weak Hand Only; Shooting from Cover; Shooting from Kneeling; Shooting from Prone; Shooting While Moving - Back, Forward, Laterally.

Tactical Rifle - Level I

Tactical Long Range Rifle - Level I

  • This is a fundamental course in the art of long range rifle use for self defense.  Topics include: Nomenclature; Safety; The Law; Physical and Psychological Effects of Lethal Encounter,  Levels of Awareness; Fundamentals of Marksmanship; Practical Shooting; Range Safety; Live Fire; Maintenance.  This is typically an 8 hour+ course and fills quickly.

Tactical Long Range Rifle - Level II

  • Follow-up course to Level I and gets to the practical field application.  Topics and exercises include: Range Safety Briefing; The Dragbag/Scabbard ; Stress and the First Shot; Strong Hand Only; Weak Hand Only; Shooting from Cover/The Hide; Shooting from Kneeling; Shooting from Prone; Shooting While Moving - Back, Forward, Laterally.
